Forward Thinking: New visions of the 21st century

February 1 - February 24th, 2019

Notorious for social-commentary, artists have always worked to carve out a sense of their place in the world. Newer contemporary artists have continued this tradition of creating work that borderlines personal reflection and social commentary. We are excited to showcase the group show, Forward Thinking, comprised of SMFA recent alum: Teddy Benfield (18'), Sam Belisle (18'), Laurence Cuelenaere ('18), and Kenson Truong (18') whose works exemplify a reflectiveness that only the "Age of Information" could facilitate. Forward Thinking exhibits these 21st Century artists and their commentaries on class, luxury, consumerism/objectification, and identity to create an expansive look at the relations between personal identity and modern societal structures.

A portion of the proceeds from this show
will be donated towards the SMFA-TUFTS art school scholarship fund.
